SATURDAY, MAY 2 is the ONLY day for EARLY PACKET PICK-UP at the INDIAN PUEBLO CULTURAL CENTER
Packets can be picked up on Race Day at Late Registration — Please allow 30-45 minutes before your event start time. Visiting Indian Pueblo Cultural Center to pick up your packet is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.
Children 3 and under DO NOT have to register
Run for the Zoo DOES NOT have Group / Team registrations. All participants must register individually.
Run for the Zoo utilizes the ChronoTrack B-Tag Timing System. Disposable timing tag is located on the back of your BIB. With ChronoTrack timing, your official time begins as you cross the Start mat & stops when you cross the Finish line. All timed events are USATF certified. Don’t forget your BIB on event day! Remember, No BIB means No Time!
In order to receive an accurate time, your BIB must be:
- Clearly Visible on the front of the torso
- Unaltered and Unmodified. Do NOT fold or wrinkle
- Pinned in all four corners
- NOT covered. (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)
WAVE START – 5K Timed Race:
Due to its popularity, the 5K Timed Run utilizes a wave start. There are (4) waves, starting at 5-minute intervals organized according to predicted min/mile pace. Your BIB will state which wave you are placed in. Make sure you are in the CORRECT wave!
Transferring to a different TIMED event is only available if your desired event isn’t already sold out. We will make every effort to switch your event, but only if there is space remaining. Go to the Troubleshooting table during Packet Pick-up at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center or on Event Day at least 45 minutes before your event, or the event you are attempting to switch to.
All courses are in the neighborhoods around the Zoo & along the Bosque. Course Map
1 Mile Fun Run / Walk Course takes you on an adventure through the ZOO! 1-Mile participants travel a dirt path through the back of the ZOO. See what life is like behind some of your favorite animal exhibits! Wolves, Polar Bears, Cat Walk, Llamas and Elephants – Oh, my!
MEDALS & AWARDS:
Medals are awarded to the top (3) Male & Female age group runners determined by chip time. Overall & Masters (40+) Male & Female awards are determined by gun time. Winners will be awarded the highest level of award for their finish time. No ‘double dipping’. Lower level awards will go to the next fastest runner in that gender/age division.
Overall Winners: Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Timed Races 1st Place Male & Female Champion Medal – 2015 prizes TBD
Masters Winners: Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Timed Races 1st Place Male & Female Champion Medal – 2015 prizes TBD
Results for the timed events are posted on the awards board, located on the SE corner of 10th St. & Atlantic (just south of the Finish Line) as soon as they are available. Results will also be posted online by 5:00pm on Event Day & may be modified up to two weeks as necessary.
Pick-up your medal at the Awards table, next to the awards board on Event Day.
Half Marathon time limit is 3 1/2 hours from start to finish. NO Walkers!
Baby strollers/joggers/carriers allowed in the 1 Mile & 5K Fitness Events ONLY & must start in the back
Water & portable toilet stations are located on all courses. Water & Portable Toilet stations are located on all courses. Portable toilets also available at the Start & Finish lines. Water provided by Water To Go, potties are courtesy of AAA Pumping.

1 Mile – 1 Water/Pottie location
Registered nurses are mobile on the course & stationary at the Info Booth with capability to handle any general first aid needs or other medical emergencies. ABQ Fire Department Paramedics are on-site for dispatch as needed. Event Volunteers are wearing specially colored ‘Zoo Crew’ shirts. Please ask for help and report any incident. Police, Volunteers and Paramedics can be reached by radio.
Participants may store items at the Runner Gear Storage truck located on Atlantic Ave. between the Start & Finish Lines. Bags are clearly marked with your BIB number, safely stored inside the truck and claimed after your event by showing your BIB. Provided by Hot Shot Services
PARKING & SERVICES:
Park & Ride: Be at ease on event day with our FREE Park & Ride Shuttle Service! Now with (2) locations to serve you! Park at the ABQ BioPark Aquarium/Botanic Garden or Albuquerque Little Theatre, then take a shuttle back to your car after the event!
Service Begins: 6:00am Bus

- Albuquerque Little Theatre, 224 San Pasquale Ave. SW – Map
Drop Off: 8th & Silver; then it’s a short “warm-up” walk to the Start Line at 8th & Atlantic.
Return Service: Ends 2:00 pm SHARP! NO exceptions!
- Pick-up location is 8th St. & Silver (where you were dropped off)
- Aquarium/Garden Lot ONLY! If you miss the final 2:00pm 8th & Silver return pick-up, take Rio Line Train from the Zoo’s Asia Station (behind Elephants) back to the Aquarium/Botanic Garden. Service Runs: 1:45pm – 3:45pm
If using Park & Ride, allow at least one hour before your event starts. Parking space is limited. Lots will be closed when full. Parking ordinances will be enforced.
Downtown Parking Options: Parking meters are FREE on Sundays! Free & Pay Parking Lots are less than 1 mile from the Start Line. Downtown street parking & lots are the best options for the Half Marathon, 10K Race & 5K Race. Enter Downtown area from Central using streets East of 8th St. Absolutely NO PARKING inside the course!
Participant Drop Off: Drop off’s can be made at 8th & Silver or Downtown outside the race course. Large groups should plan designated meeting areas. Do NOT drop off participants at Park & Ride lots.
The course is closed to ALL vehicular traffic. Handicapped parking is available at Aquarium/Botanic Garden & Albuquerque Little Theatre. Take the FREE Park & Ride service to 8th & Silver, about five blocks from the Start Line.
Your BIB (Event Number) allows you FREE entrance into the Zoo on event day. If you did not register for an event, you must purchase admission ticket to get into the Zoo.
The event will not be cancelled. We will run, walk & have fun, rain, snow or shine!
Refunds are not available – all net proceeds go to charity!
Huning Castle, Barelas, Raynolds & West Park Residents. Run for the Zoo is ‘running’ through your neighborhood. For the safety of our participants and volunteers, the course will be closed to non-emergency vehicular traffic starting at 6am.
